Michael Phillips is a Chartered Financial Planner with more than 25 years’ experience in financial services predominantly advising clients, and business owners, in Investment and Retirement Planning, both prior to and post-retirement. He also has a passion for cash flow modelling to help clients understand their financial position, explore their options and make confident and informed decisions about their future.
Retirement, investment and cash flow planning
Michael takes a long-term approach to financial planning, helping clients understand how their pensions, investments, income and expenditure can work together to support the lifestyle they want.
Using cash flow modelling, which he has worked with since 2008, Michael can help clients explore different scenarios and understand how their finances could change before and throughout retirement. This can provide greater clarity when considering questions such as:

Experience and professional expertise
Michael joined HJP in 2017, having started his financial services career with Sun Life in 1997. During more than 20 years there, he provided technical and product support to Financial Advisers across Surrey, Sussex, Kent and Central London, developing extensive knowledge of financial products and their practical application.
He achieved Diploma status in 2012 and Chartered Financial Planner status in 2021. He is a member of the Personal Finance Society (PFS) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Life outside of work
Michael lives in Chaldon, Surrey, with his wife and two children, who are growing up far too fast.
Outside work, he enjoys cycling and walks with the family. He has a passion for all forms of motor sport, especially F1 and BTCC. He also loves Go Karting with his son, but never wins! He regularly visits Brands Hatch and the Goodwood Festival of Speed. To relax, he spends time in the garden when the sun is out!
