Building Financial Wellbeing Through the Power of Community

1 May 2025

Financial wellbeing is a vital part of overall mental health. With this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week focused on the theme of community, it’s the perfect time to explore how your local and personal networks can positively influence your financial wellbeing.

The Role of Community in Your Wellbeing

A strong, supportive community can help us feel safe, connected, and resilient – which are all key components for positive mental health. Communities can come in many forms: from neighbourhoods and workplaces to family circles and professional networks.

When it comes to financial wellbeing, having the right people around you can make all the difference.

Feeling in control

Financial Wellbeing can mean something different for everyone. For us, it’s about feeling empowered and in control of your finances - both now and in the future.

A large part of financial wellbeing is about confidence and feeling in control of your finances. We want to help people feel empowered about their financial futures, starting from a young age. That’s why we have started to make the time to provide financial education to some of our local schools. For Primary school children, we run a fun, interactive Money Matters workshop by RedSTART to start to give them financial confidence from a young age, including games to teach them about risk and reward. We also run workshops for 16+ which includes budgeting, savings, insurance and protecting yourself online, where all resources have been externally accredited by Young Money and the Money and Pensions Service which endorses their quality.

An extension of your community

Many of our clients come to us through referrals across generations, from parents to children and even grandchildren. When a loved one or someone in your community recommends a trusted professional, it offers reassurance that you're in safe hands. A great financial adviser builds lasting, personal relationships with their clients. After all, we know how sensitive and complex conversations about money can be—and how important it is to have them with someone you truly trust.

We like to think of ourselves as an extension of your community – a professional support who can offer guidance with empathy and understanding.

Security and peace of mind.

Financial wellbeing also means having peace of mind that your loved ones will be looked after if the unexpected happens.

That’s where protection planning comes in. From critical illness cover to income protection, there are ways to safeguard your family’s future and reduce financial stress during difficult times. You can view more about protection planning here.

By safeguarding your closest community, you're helping it grow stronger and more resilient.

The power of community

The power of community should never be underestimated. Whether it’s emotional support during tough times, practical help, or financial advice from someone you trust, a strong community is a key pillar of long-term wellbeing.
